Maintenance

Doors are like people: they need care and attention.

Important instructions for inside doors with surface finishes.

Dear customer, you made an excellent decision selecting a door with a coated finish. The coating provided directly in the factory, guarantees you that the wood will remain protected and that thanks to the correct quantity and application of the coating materials, your Rubner door will remain in perfect condition for a long time.

As for all living things, wood doors suffer as from the first day a process of natural ageing. This process is accelerated by direct action of the sun, rain, wind etc, as well as by an exposed position or unfavourable features of the building such as narrow eaves. Mechanical causes, such as damage caused during building work or by hail, can also lead to ageing. Hence we suggest you dedicate a short time twice a year, in Spring and Autumn, to inspecting your doors carefully.

Slight damage such as dents, cracks or small joint faults can easily be repaired by using the original coating product. You can get this with the right colour from your local dealer. If the thickness of the varnish or paint of your entrance door is reduced due to atmospheric agents, we suggest you first remove any loose parts from the surface, by light sanding with 180-grade paper.

Then carefully clean the area involved and apply a good coat of the original paint or varnish.

Do not worry if at the start the paint seems to be whitish: within a few hours the finish will take on a bright fresh aspect.
At limited expense you can ensure that for a long time your door will remain in excellent condition and hence maintain its value.

For impregnated doors however we cannot offer any guarantee.
